You have heard – Almost 1.4 million children are on the brink of starvation as famine ravages Nigeria, Somalia, South Sudan and Yemen
Drought and conflict have created conditions that could become one of the worst famines in living memory. And those most likely to die are children.
You may have asked – What can I do as one of God’s people to respond to this?
Because World Relief has been working in Unity State in South Sudan since 1998, World Relief has been asked by the World Food Program (WFP) to distribute as much as $2.3 million in high-nutrition food supplements to the most vulnerable children under age 5.
The WFP will give us the food – no cost to us.
The cost is in distribution, and setting up feeding centres, and conducting screening of children to identify those most at risk and who are not yet getting help.
We are gearing up to screen a first wave of 100,000 children, as well as pregnant and nursing mothers through our feed centres. Among them we expect to find more than 9,000 children and 3000 pregnant and nursing mothers already suffering permanent health damage or facing death – they will become the instant highest priority for your help. Otherwise, an estimated 80 per cent will certainly die.
We have an open door and a huge responsibility to act but we cannot do so without you help in getting the support of Christians in Canada.
We’re trying to raise $500,000 immediately to take on the entire $2.3 million offer – but whatever we raise will help distribute high-nutrition food supplements to precious children who today are the most vulnerable humans on earth.
Please help. Every person can make a difference immediately, through a trusted and proven channel.
Thank you so very much. The heartbreak unfolding before us demands that we act. So, we are very grateful that we can turn to you to join us.
